 1. Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO )

The Indian Space Research Organisation or is the national space agency of the Republic of India, headquartered in Bengaluru. It operates under Department of Space which is directly overseen by the prime minister of India while chairman of ISRO acts as the executive of DoS as well. ISRO is the primary agency in India to perform tasks related to space-based applications, space exploration and the development of related technologies. It is one of six government space agencies in the world which possess full launch capabilities, deploy cryogenic engines, launch extraterrestrial missions and operate large fleets of artificial satellites.

  • After completing MSc in physics you could apply for the job in ISRO. You can work as a research associate in various projects in ISRO.
  • Also, MSC Physics postgraduates can apply for technical posts in ISRO. Generally, you will be considered for Research /Scientists/ Senior Physicist positions in ISRO.

2. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre ( BARC )

Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha conceived the Nuclear Program in India. Dr Bhabha established the BARC Training School to cater to the manpower needs of the expanding atomic energy research and development program. In Bhabha’s own words "When Nuclear Energy has been successfully applied for power production in, say a couple of decades from now, India will not have to look abroad for its experts but will find them ready at hand". Dr Bhabha emphasized self-reliance in all the fields of nuclear science and engineering.

Selection Process

There are two channels for getting into BARC. First one is through GATE Exam and the other one is through Online Exam conducted by BARC.
At the time of application, candidates can choose any one or both of the above screening options. The cutoff GATE scores for screening into Selection Interviews are finalized only after the conclusion of the Online Test, therefore, the candidate is advised to maximize their chance of being screened into the Selection Interview by availing both the Screening Channels (GATE score as well as Online Test)
